Welcome to Scattering Rhythms, a web based drummers resource created by Simon Barker featuring educational materials for drumset inspired by Korean traditional rhythms The links below feature downloadable pdf's of a range of drumset pieces inspired by Korean traditional rhythms. Scroll down to the audio files section for MP3's of improvisations utlizing material found in these studies as well as demonstrations of SamulNori Drumset and a video of Korean inspired improvisation on the drumset. Before attempting each piece I reccomend listening to some of the audio files and reading the explanotory notes and background information provided in links on the left hand column of this webpage. Please download these resources for learning purposes. In addition, new material will be added on a regular basis. If you would like to donate towards the ongoing development of this site and the creation of new materials please visit here. While each piece is presented as a complete composition, each variation appearing in these studies may be considered an autonomous rhythm with unique characteristics for exploration.
